Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery

CEO, BAPCO

Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) since 20 October 2021. Prior to that he occupied the position of President of the Gulf Petrochemicals Industries Company from 2005 to 2021. Before taking up the most senior leadership position at GPIC, he worked in different roles at the company including as plants operation manager (1999 to 2004), urea project manager (1995 to 1998), operations manager (1989 to 1994), and engineer (1983 to 1988). Dr. Jawahery has a Ph.D in Engineering, as well as a M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering. He is a chartered engineer, a fellow, and a holder of an International Diploma from NEBOSH. Dr. Jawahery served as the Treasurer of Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA) Board of Directors (2021), Vice Chairman (2018 to 2021) and Chairman of the GPCA Fertilizer Committee (2016 to 2021). He was the first ever Chairman of Arab nationality to head up the International Fertilizer Association (2015 – 2017). He is the recipient of numerous awards, among which are the Bahrain Competency Medal of the First-Class award by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa (2015); the Italian Presidential Decree of Knight – Order of the Star of Italy Award presented by the President of the Italian Republic (2017); King Hamad International Youth Empowerment Award (2018); and Princess Sabeeka Award for Bahraini Women Empowerment (2017).
